I don’t know about you, but facials do something for me. Quite frankly, I see them as a necessity. Even though I have a fairly regimented skin care regime (and an even more regimented natural-eating regime: you are what you eat, end of.) every so often a facial can clear your pores, brighten dull skin and give you that all over glow. I travel a lot and often to places with unprecedented levels of pollution, so my skin demands some TLC and extra attention from time to time. And if nothing else laying there for at least 60 minutes while someone massages glorious ingredients into your face is nothing if not indulgent. So you can imagine my shock when I meet people who not only do not have a facialist on speed dial (OK, a little extreme), but think that this is an added LUXURY to their lives. To me a facial is something more…it’s an EDUCATION about your skin and an opportunity to give your mug some SERIOUS love.
And then Bare Skin Beauty came into my life. Last weekend I had the honour of meeting Juliette Scarfe. A woman who is PASSIONATE about natural beauty. Seriously refreshing. A woman who has made it her mission in life to create natural and uber luxurious skin care products. A woman who takes a holistic approach to health and wellness. I went for the Ayurvedic Facial Rejuvenation with the promise of skin revitalized, toned and regenerated…I was not let down. Far from it. My skin was like a beacon radiating light. Seriously. I’m pretty sure I glowed in the dark that night. And the next day. (At work I was asked if I had ‘caught the sun at the weekend’. Err. Excuse me. What sun?!) The results were another level. And you know me, the Allergy Kid, needing natural ingredients sans preservatives I have to be careful. Well, let me tell you, you can leave your worries at the door. The products are bio-active, nutrient rich superfoods. Ethically sourced. Naturally pure. And honest. I mean, this stuff is so far up my alley I could create a whole damn town. Post-facial I was given sound advice in dealing with my allergies and insight into what the issues are with my skin and what I can do to combat those. All in all an amazing experience.
If you are struggling to justify a facial every now and then or simply not sure which one to go for I would urge you to try one using NATURAL and ORGANIC ingredients. What you put on your skin is directly absorbed into your body, so I’m sure you will agree keeping it REAL takes on a whole new meaning. If you struggle with the indulgence of the whole experience then consider the educational experience you will have in learning about your skin condition and subsequent remedies. Consider it a part of your overall wellness. Consider that it is an opportunity to relax, slow down and become a little more mindful and aware of yourself. Then go and get some good, honest facial love. Then come back here so I can say ‘I told you so’.
